Police in Bell County are trying to figure out who broke into an elderly woman’s home.

The break-in happened early Monday morning on Exeter Avenue.

Middlesboro police say the woman finished getting ready for the day and came out of her bathroom to find her back door kicked in.

Police say the thief or thieves got away with cash, purses and $15,000 in jewelry.

On Monday afternoon Southeastern Kentucky Rehabilitation Industries (SEKRI) announced expansion into Bell County with (50-100 new jobs anticipated).
A press conference will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 10:30 a.m. At the Bell County Courthouse 2nd Floor On Courthouse Square Pineville, KY. This opening will be the sixth plant location. SEKRI currently has five manufacturing plants located in Corbin with (2) locations, Cumberland, Paris, KY and Jellico, TN.
SEKRI is a non-profit organization whose primary purpose is to provide qualified personnel, facilities and related services for persons with disabilities, enabling them to obtain and to be successful in maintaining competitive employment.

SEKRI currently manufactures a variety of garments and protective gear for the United States Armed Forces. These items include caps for all branches of service, first aid kits for the United States Army, fire retardant outerwear and base layers, as well as extreme cold weather apparel.

Immediately following the press conference, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the new plant location. The facility is located at 302 KY Ave. in the former Sizemore Hardware location in Downtown Pineville.

Construction on the new FOOD CITY in Middlesboro is moving right along with the anticipation of opening in December. The 56,300+ square foot supermarket will serve as a replacement unit and be located just behind the existing store.

The location will include an in-store bakery/deli, complete with a hot food bar and expanded café seating area large enough to accommodate 65+ diners. A fresh food bar will also be available, featuring a wide variety of soup, wings, salad and fruit selections.

Expanded grocery, frozen food and produce departments will go well beyond the normal fare with a huge selection of gourmet, international and specialty items.

And just announced that Starbucks coffee shop will be located inside the store.

The new Party Cupcakes will give out Halloween cupcakes while they last on the parking lot of the new location at 1521 Cumberland Ave. Along with the treat they will announce when the new store will open for business. According to owner Debbie Patterson they will feature many types of cupcakes, cakes and other pastries. Make sure you stop by today for your Halloween treat.
