A Corbin man is dead after a shooting in Bowling Green, Ky. during the weekend.
Officials identified the victim as Kenneth “Alex” Davis, 21, of Corbin, and the shooter as Peter Gall.
“Mr. Gall and Mr. Davis and several other young men were horsing around, a gun was brought out and accidentally discharged, causing the death of Mr. Davis,” said Simpson. “They were roommates and very good friends, if not best friends.”
Police tell us Davis was taken to a Bowling Green hospital where he later died.
Davis was a former Corbin High School student. Davis and Gall were both attending Western Kentucky University.
Gall is charged with manslaughter.

A Whitley County man is in jail accused of causing a deadly weekend crash.
According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, a pick-up truck driven by Joshua Woods, 38, of Rockholds, did not make a curve on Flat Creek Road and overturned multiple times around 2 Sunday morning before landing in a creek bed.
Woods’ passenger, Laura Carter, died in the crash. The sheriff told us Carter’s father had to be cut out of the back seat.
Woods is charged with reckless homicide, DUI, operating a motor vehicle on a suspended or revoked license, leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance, failure to maintain insurance and no registration.
Police do not think any of the people in the truck were wearing seatbelts.
Middlesboro-Tazewell Newsmedia, LLC, a new Kentucky entity owned by Carpenter Newsmedia, LLC and managed by Boone Newspapers, Inc., has purchased the Claiborne Progress and Middlesboro Daily News from Civitas Media of Davidson, North Carolina.
The purchase was finalized Thursday.
Bill Sharp of Tazewell will remain as publisher of both newspapers and related websites.
