On Wednesday August 23, 2017 the Harlan County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence of Nathan Massingale located on Sang Branch Road in Wallins. The search warrant was a result of an investigation following numerous complaints relating to methamphetamine and other narcotics.
Upon execution of the search warrant a firearm, a small quantity of drugs and $453 cash was seized. Nathan Massingale, 36, was charged with Possession of Handgun by Convicted Felon, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Trafficking in Marijuana. He was also served with two Harlan County Circuit Court Bench Warrants for Failure to Appear on two other felony drug trafficking indictments from earlier this year.
He was lodged in the Harlan County Detention Center.

Fire crews battled a fire at Brock’s Market in Leslie County on Wednesday.
The business is off U.S. 421 near the Harlan-Leslie line.
Brock’s Market is a convenience store and gas station. Fire officials told WYMT everyone was evacuated from the business quickly and safely.
Fire crews originally closed the roadway out of fear that the gasoline and diesel tanks on the property would explode.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however, fire officials say it could be connected to a grease fire at the business earlier Wednesday morning.

The success of the Levitt AMP shows no signs of slowing down as the community continues to embrace it with open arms, and tonights show is expected to be another big one.
Tonight’s lineup includes opener Children of the Empire and headliner Jackie Venson.
Children of the Empire doesn’t have strict genre they fall into. They are said to play whatever they feel the crowd will best react to, as well as what inspired them growing up and what inspires them now. If pressed, they call themselves a simple rock ‘n’ roll band.
They play music from bands and performers such as The Beatles, Elvis and The Doors to more modern groups like Kings of Leon and The Black Keys.
Taking the stage around 7:30 p.m. will be Jackie Venson.
Venson is a from Austin, Texas, and is considered a triple-threat as a singer, songwriter and musician.
Venson has also opened for the legendary band Earth, Wind and Fire as well and internationally known acts such as The Los Lonely Boys.
This week’s festivities kick off once again at 6:30 p.m. in in Downtown Middlesboro.
