The Pinnacle Overlook at Cumberland Gap National Historic Park welcomed more than 100 people to view the solar eclipse.

Park rangers and tourists flocked to the area because of its nice view and elevation.
Locals and travelers from across the world joined together for the viewing.
“We had people from the local area, as well as people from Wisconsin, Canada, and a couple of people from South America in the visitor’s center who came to this area,” said Park Ranger, Lucas Wilder.
Wilder said travelers have been visiting the park for weeks to prepare for the eclipse.

A traffic stop in Middlesboro led to multiple arrests on the evening of Aug. 19.
According to the police citation, Middlesboro Police Department Officer Edward Dray stopped a green Chevrolet on Dorchester Avenue and 26th Street. The driver, identified as Martha Marie Leffler, 37, of Middlesboro was operating the vehicle on a suspended license. Upon contact with Leffler, Dray observed Leffler had multiple signs of being under the influence.
Leffler also had two passengers in the car identified as Carl Buddy Murrell, 55, of Middlesboro and Sarah Michelle West, 30, of Pineville. Murrell had two outstanding bench warrants and West had three. Both were arrested.
The Harlan Daily Enterprise reports 
A Cawood man is facing charged including methamphetamine possession after police allegedly found him in possession of the drug during a safety check.
Robert Middleton, 26, of Cawood, was arrested on Thursday by Kentucky State Police Trooper Brandon Burton.
According to the citation, Middleton arrived at a pre-approved safety checkpoint in the Cawood community. He did not possess a valid operator’s license. Burton noticed Middleton exhibited slurred speech and appeared drowsy. Middleton failed to pass a sobriety test. During a search, police located two small bottles containing a crystal rock substance and multiple pills. Middleton was transported to Harlan ARH Hospital where he refused a blood test.
