Police are investigating following a high speed chase Saturday on U.S. 25E in Knox County.

Several Barbourville Police officers and Knox County sheriff’s deputies were involved in the chase. Police said Brandon Moses, 29, of Bledsoe, Kentucky was driving a silver Ford Mustang when he failed to stop after police turned on their emergency lights, resulting in the chase.
KSP told WYMT that Moses ended the chase, got out of the car with his hand behind his back and threatened to harm officers on the scene. We’re told when he would not respond to commands, police shot him.
Moses was taken to Barbourville ARH and flown to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and is now in serious condition. Kentucky State Police is investigating.

The Claiborne Progress reports 
The body found in the Red Hill community of Speedwell on July 19 has been positively identified as that of Dan Lawrence Rice, 46, of Cumberland Gap. Rice was found dead inside his vehicle on Earls Hollow Road.
The Claiborne Sheriff’s Department released a statement adding that next of kin, located in Las Vegas, have been notified.
The body was sent to the University of Tennessee for autopsy, but the results were not in as of the latest CCSO update.

Irvine Police found more than $170,000 worth of pills and drugs after executing a search warrant on Friday.
Police arrested Scott Abney at his home during the search. They found more than 1,000 Oxycodone pills, more than 3,000 Xanax pills, more than 123 grams of Heroin, more than 700 grams of Meth and numerous other pills.
Most of the drugs that were taken were packaged for large quantity sales. Abney faces possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and various drug trafficking charges.
