On Sunday, July 16 the Bell County Coroner’s Office was contacted by Middlesboro ARH Hospital to respond to the death of a child, by drowning, that had been brought to the Emergency Department in that facility by Middlesboro Fire Department.
Upon arrival, Deputy Coroner Don Horton officially pronounced a two year old male deceased at 1:57PM. Preliminary investigation by Middlesboro Police Department’s Officer Jeremiah Johnson and Lieutenant Tom Busic concluded no foul play was involved in the incident, which took place in a pool at a private residence. Deputy Horton consulted with the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office about the incident, and it was concluded that an autopsy would not be performed due to the clearly tragic circumstances of this accidental death investigation.
At this time, no further information or names are being released by the Bell County Coroner, out of respect to the family members, due to the involvement of the accidental death of a child.
